| HORRORPOPS - Hell Yeah (2004 Hellcat Records) Cool sounding band. Great female vocalist and a nice touch is the acoustic bass that creates an different sound. Take some punk, add psychobilly mix in some Rock`n`Roll and ska what you get is Horrorpops. Lot of 50:s in the vocals with lots of harmony singing. Itīs a good records with 13 songs, both fast and not so very fast, but for me it could have been enough with only 12 songs because the last one is something I wouldn't put under my Christmas tree. It is something instrumental smelling of the same sound as the 60:s bands Shadows, Spotnicks and those ones. But besides that I like this record which seems to have been recorded in Denmark at least the most of the material. First track out "Julia" is a little softer Rock`n`rollish thing quite neat."Drama queen" hell of a punk/psycho thing. "Girl in a cage" here we are, ska rythms but the refrain is a bit popish. "Kool flattop" almost an old school rockabilly song, pretty cool anyway. |
